Our Accommodation
Welcome to The Grange on Kalgan a unique heritage "premium" farm-stay with a continental breakfast experience set in a fresh country setting located just 22kms from the City of Albany.
When you arrive you will see beautiful blue fairy wrens and western rosellas flitting about in the gardens along with the stunning vistas before exploring everything that this small lifestyle farm has to offer set in a delightful location overlooking the peaceful Kalgan River Valley. Upon arrival you will also be offered a complimentary glass of local wine and guided tour of the landscaped gardens to discover more about the history of the Kalgan area and the property.
We have a wonderful range of attractions on our 12.5 acre property which features extensive landscaped bird attracting gardens and water features together with an extensive organic orchard and organic vegetable garden.
Our guests are welcome to feed some of the farm animals which include sheep, alpacas, chooks and peacocks. Watching the kangaroos foraging in nearby paddocks is one of the truly special experiences of a visit to The Grange on Kalgan.

Close proximity to the Kalgan River offers a number of excellent outdoor activities with canoeing, fishing, swimming and hiking
Facilities are available such as laundry, private bathroom, north and west facing verandas, free parking, free wifi, airconditioning and non smoking
You are welcome to enjoy our large outdoor entertaining area along with BBQ facilities
Facilities also include a large family living area and dining room with a wood fireplace which is set for you every evening in the cooler months!
Our 1 Bedroom Suite (‘River View Room’)
Features a king sized bed and ensuite bathroom along with a private deck and sweeping westerly views over the Kalgan River valley and adjoining vineyards
** Maximum occupancy is 2 people.
Our 2 Bedroom Suite (‘Vineyard View Room’)
Features a king size bed and a queen sized bed with a shared ensuite bathroom along with a private deck and sweeping westerly and northerly views over the Kalgan River valley and adjoining vineyards
** Maximum occupancy is 4 adults along with children and will suit a family or 2 couples travelling together.
Our rooms are air conditioned and heated in winter and the large living room has TV facilities, bar and pool table and a wood fire included.

We have available a continental breakfast in our formal dining room.
The formal dining room has a quaint “old fashioned country” feel with French doors that open onto the veranda. Tea and coffee making facilities are included in the room together with a small fridge.
Evening meals are not provided however we are only 20kms from town where there are numerous dining out facilities. In addition you can share the kitchen and so you have access to kitchen facilities.
Our farm stay features the two bedroom accommodation as noted above, as well as facilities including access to kitchen, large living area, laundry facilities and you are also welcome to enjoy the large outdoor entertaining area with BBQ facilities. Maximum occupancy is 4 adults (children may use the mattress if required) and will suit a family or 2 couples travelling together.
The property and location offers peace and tranquillity and guests have compared the property to staying at a "private retreat" and it will suit those guests who want and are seeking a nature based experience and want to explore the region.
** Please note: owner Wayne lives in a separate private area of the house as he needs to run and manage the property.

We also have an outdoor entertaining area (indoors) that can be used for small weddings, special occasions like birthdays, wedding photos or other events. It has excellent views of nearby vineyards, the Kalgan River Valley and the sunsets and is a great location for a sundowner!

The Luke Pen Walk trail, located along the Kalgan River adjoining the property, is a beautiful meandering 7km walk trail closely following the River. The walk along the river is serene and peaceful and a 20min walk will take you past the fish traps to the bridge at Upper Kalgan.
This easy, well-formed seven kilometre trail takes approximately four hours to complete. The walk provides constantly changing views of the river, along with a mixture of vineyards, green pastures with grazing cattle and eucalyptus bushland and river gums.
We are located close to beaches, 20 mins from the Porongurup Range and wineries, 40 mins from Bluff Knoll and the Stirling Ranges and 20 mins from the shops and restaurants in Albany.
Whether you are enjoying a “sundowner” sitting in the entertainment area drinking our local wines and watching the sun set over the beautiful Kalgan River or sipping a glass of red wine and enjoying a good book in front of the wood fire, what we offer will be above your expectations!
